Cerberus, really?

To open your eyes and find Cerberus
A most horrifying thing indeed
Staring down on you with eyes bright
And sharp enough to make you bleed
Three heads wavering wildly
Drool slavering over his jaws
Your meek and fragile body
Incased between his massive paws
Your eyes seeking across his continence
Mechanically seeking his worst head
While all your old fears become foolish
And your last lifeblood is bled

Then at last dream and waking separate
And Cerberus is no longer dark or fell
But only my own eager dog
And my personal hound of hell

This is a great mythological character, and you've certainly done it justice. Line 9, I think you're going for "countenance", not "continence".
    Great imagery

wow, totally wonderful, twisted sigh in morning wisdom

i just love how you wrote. maybe yer in a weird moon when you wake up or later on when you wrote this, man, but it is well written, flows like butter and the poor Cerberus knows you have his number, horrible as he is, he is, as you have found, a figment, as is mythology, but figments are part of our special mind and has a visceral hold upon our imagination. your poem is wonderfully aware of this and is so well written that i was simply drawn through it happily even though i have no idea who this beast is, or didn't, but do now.......... i will read it again. ,,,Danni

your writing is well done, in fact, really really cool and stylish.

Remarkably good flow for something quickly strewn together. I take it you don't have a pug. :-) lol

      No... not a pug... lol.
Actually, she be a border collie X (crossed with what, i don't know, but i have theorized she has some Cerberus in her ancestory some how) One only need walk her once, and upon seeing the approach of a car, person, dog, or moving object of any other nature, prepare of the pain of a shattered wrist/dislocated shoulder/seperated tendon, and then watch with frustrated amusement as with most rapt speed, she takes off towards it, hits the end of her leash, and completes several sommersaults, backflips, and cartwheels in the ten seconds she is off the ground.... I kid you not... and though there is some scottish blood in me... as well as irish, norse, french, english, italian, and american indian (just in case you were interested) In this instance, i use NONE of the exageration for which the highlanders are so reputed for.... She is insane, i refuse to change my story.
