Et Tu, Brutus?

A conspiracy held so long ago,
In an ancient society millions called home,
The site of regicide in betrayal,
A backstabbing friend lived long ago in Rome.

The gap in Ceasar's back, the sign of ultimate betrayal,
He trusted Brutus and turned his back,
When the devil entered Brutus'soul.

The thing the dictator saw,
Crumbled back down to a man,
Was his friend stabbing him the back,
Loyalty, Brutus' lack.

Ceasar, beware the Ides of March,
When Brutus shall begin hell's march.

Author notes

On the Ides of March, Ceasar was assasinated by a group of senators near the senate chambers. His last words, according to historians, was to Brutus, a good friend of his. "Et tu, Brutus?"

"You too, Brutus?"

    Powerful

This was the first I'd heard reminiscent of the Ides of March this year. I enjoyed the fact you focused on Brutus, rather than Caesar, a different twist!
