I don't know if the parents know if it's to be a boy or girl yet myself, Jalisa. I know I've knit my fair-share of baby blankets not knowing and got the "color" totally off, but who wants a dull-gray and blah-green and yellow baby blanket anyway!!!

Not much of a knitter myself, but my mother is an avid knitter and i always like to go shopping for the wool and choose the colour. Love their fluffiness and the warm bright colours.

You have brought out that warmth in your poem.

    Best of luck.

Your mother and me both, Bengali! I can go to a yarn shop and stay there for hours just touching and admiring the yarns.

Thank you so much for your comments!

Awww, that is so cute....(I hated haiku's in high school, when we were forced to write about dumb things like ice cream and cats, lol) Great job, and great graphics as well! Good luck!

I never wrote a haiku until about a year ago, and they've really intrigued me since, Princess.

Enjoy the haiku, enjoy the contest and the baby shower and baby most of all!

like the twist of lambswool threads, has such a softness to it,the lamb representing new life, spring, gamboling gaily, the knitting needles, what maternal symbols and how they create such beautiful garments which please the eye and warm the body, and yes pink for girl or blue for boy, cute, kudos

This is sweet, it would be lovely for a baby shower! Twist the pretty blue and pink together, wound in a baby-ku!

We've suggested a mix of blue and pink wisely in this.I've played it safe with yellow a few times.

When my sister was pregnant with my NIECE, she was so insistent it would be a boy, and though instincts told me otherwise I knit up baby blankets and layettes in pastel yellows and greens. She still has those baby blankets on the back of her sofa, and there isn't a time that I visit that I don't wish I went with those instincts and knit PINK-PINK-PINK!

Thanks always for your comments, Suseann!

I remember my own baby shower when a few of the girls from work had given me hand-made gifts, Suseann. Everyone suspected I was having a boy--(I had no boy/girl test done and I don't even know if they were even available at the time). And as a knitter myself, I have been known to last-moment embroider a few blue and yellow flowers along with those pink ones before presenting a gift too! I think I still prefer not knowing it be a baby girl or boy, whether I be the Mom-to-be--(OH NO, NEVER AGAIN!) or the knitter--(THAT'S MUCH BETTER)!!!

Thank you always for your comments!
