We are in this thing called life together
If you cut your flesh, I bleed
I take your hand in stormy weather
My provisions meet your needs
The violent winds of change blow
I feel lost and cannot find my way
With compassion you show me where to go
You shine light into my darkened day
When my heart is empty
You point me to the source of love
When my soul is thirsty
You quench it with rain from above
Your children are my passion
Through us we allow heaven to bless
Their needs drive my compassion
I long to see their prosperity and success
We are in this thing called life together
When we are filled or when we are hollow
When burdens are heavy or light as a feather
Wherever the path leads, together, we will follow
If you cut your flesh, I bleed
I take your hand in stormy weather
My provisions meet your needs
The violent winds of change blow
I feel lost and cannot find my way
With compassion you show me where to go
You shine light into my darkened day
When my heart is empty
You point me to the source of love
When my soul is thirsty
You quench it with rain from above
Your children are my passion
Through us we allow heaven to bless
Their needs drive my compassion
I long to see their prosperity and success
We are in this thing called life together
When we are filled or when we are hollow
When burdens are heavy or light as a feather
Wherever the path leads, together, we will follow
Author notes
Written about a friend, but can be read as if it were about Jesus.
My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. John 17:20 - 21

It is really a heartfelt write revealing the beauty of the heart of the poet and also it is touching a kind of the universal grace in the every line of this poem.I am really impressed with the concept and its strength as well...

Wow. The part that says:
"We are in this thing called life together
If you cut your flesh, I bleed"
really got to me because if you are really close to someone the things they do affects you just as much, or more, as they do to themselves. Anyways this is a really great write. -
It's really wonderful. Some of the rhymes are very simplistic but it takes a heck of a lot to get those down perfectly. What you've got here is very nice and a great testament to your love for your friend. I find it amusing how you can relate it to Jesus as well. It's quite a feeling, love for even just a friend. A lovely write, thanks for sharing.
