Tiers/Tears of Time

Under the three-tiered layer of time’s bitter tree I sit and ponder
Time’s first tier, the past, oh what a past it was.
My life, in years gone past a lie. A deceit I never knew
A husband I wed, two children born of love I thought
Over twenty years of wedded existence, not bliss, never that
The reality and the truth shown through the clouded falsehood
A woman I was, but it was women I loved. Confusion hit hard
Yet the reality still didn’t drive me away from the marital home
It was the drink, the emotional battering, the sad lonely nights
Urged  to leave, find happiness, find truth
Finally, courage took me by the throat and dragged me away
Time’s second tier, the present a burden and a joy
Love finally sent to me a lover, for a while happiness my lot
It was not to be, but this time I knew there was love to be found
A cybernetic place sent Cupid’s arrow through a screen
The one true love that I can not deny will never deny
Yet guilt sits on my left shoulder, and on my right its partner, conscience
From home far away I have lured her, freely she comes
The third tier of time is unknown to me, a conundrum
Will love stay and hold me ever more or shall it pass
I know not but I will hold on to what I have with fierce hands.
