I wear sarongs, with thongs
Shirts and short skirts
I have brown eyes that flirt
Stevie nicks, I'd like to look like
Her music is my delight
And sometimes I'll fight
Just to stick up for my rights
Arguments and abuse
There is no more excuse
I just turn them loose
I play pool, cause I think it's cool
A dog, a cat...and my 10 year old brat
I've traveled around and been through towns
On the back of a bike
I've even hitchhiked
I've had the best
I've had the worst
In times of trouble...I did not burst
I've been weak, I've been strong
But usually I'm easy to get along
Sometimes I even smoke a bong
Now your gonna tell me that that's wrong
At 40 now, I hibernate
Living in Queensland's not so great
Getting older is my worst fear
And sometimes I might need an ear
You made these rules so loud and clear
So I'll just write til I think it's fine
Ways to get inside my mind
I'm just playing for time
Til you discriminate
Taunting you with things you hate
I love the fact that you investigate
Rules that I don't contemplate
Even so
The history of my life I know
I guess it's time for me to go
All this for just a show
I feel like tar inside my car
As I ask myself
WHAT THE?

thats fabulous, I assume you're referring to the "rules" of poetry... which yes, I do try to stick to most of the time in my work but it is FANTATIC to see a piece like this... you don't need rules and meter and flow and all of that to make a poem just.. AMAZIN! I lvoe this and you sound like a really fun person!!!!

Lovin it.
Reminds me of my Sons Tshirt............ "I can hear what your saying, I just aint Listening". Cant imagine where he gets it from? ,I blame the parents. ;-)
Good Luck.

This is a great poem you wrote here, very funny. Your rhythm and rhyme flowed superbly, well done dear poet and good luck in the contest

Very well then
You could win. Hope you have the patience to wait until August
I like the phrase "What th?" Gary Larson used it frequently in his Far Side cartoons. It speaks volumes to the dumfounded
