echoes on the wind
the soft susurration of the loch
as the mist rolled in around us while we danced...
do you hear them too?
I didn't want to leave you, you say to me
and if I concentrate, I can almost remember
how it felt to be alive,
to hold you in my arms as the frigid fingers
of the loch reached so gently for our feet...
do you feel it too?
I know you had no choice, I say to you
and if I open my eyes, will I see you
as you were so long ago
when we were living our own fairytale
and the voices in the wind promised only happiness
in days yet to come...
do you remember it too?
I love the woman you've become, you say to me
and if I could feel anything now
it would be love for you still
so different from the girl, and yet the same you
the one I've always loved...
do you see it too?
I hear your whispers in my dreams, and I know you're never far...
let me tell you again, how very much I loved you then
how I so miss you today, and everything that might have been...

this is for me so nice, so melancholy andyet so lively, as you so alive and full of hope. I don't feel or read anything in this poem that is hopeless, only a longing and a hope that time and love and destiny will have a way of creating within your life those things that you wish were which never became but that may, infact become only in other ways. ,,,Danni
