What is beauty?
Is it some blond hair bimbo
On the cover of the magazine
Is it the movie star with the fake tan
No i say beauty is not in the image
It is in the soul
Beauty is a thing
Not of this world
It is of the next
The inner world
Where those they call ugly
Are the brightest stars
The inner light is the beauty
Not the vanity of the skin
The falseness of the image
Cannot compete with
The truth of the soul

I'm not sure how this ties in exactly with eating disorders or depression. I can see the beauty thing but the link is extremely weak. Sorry but the link is to weak to consider for any form of placing. That aside, the poem is quiet thought provoking. Thank you for entering.

I've received a lot of similar pieces in this contest, and they've missed the head of the nail completely. I didn't want a poem about beauty, I wanted a piece that was beautiful for it's understated nature. Sorry, just not what I was looking for.

So true, yet you have not ventured deep enough into this subject to satisfy the requirements of this contest. What makes the soul so beautiful? What is inner light, what is truth?

i wouldnt say this is a mega deep write i would say its more thought provoking...we all see beauty as an external element but yes it is the inner being that holds true beauty..i love the way you have used light as an imagery tool it highlights ones thoughts well done this is a beautiful poem thats written brill
