Listen To Your Heartbeat

Missing image

Listen to your heartbeat
the quiet of the night
life is a special gift
most strive to get it right.

Some realize too late
that love is all you need
please listen to my words
before you all proceed.

Love need not be romantic
love of music is just fine
just so we all love something
before running out of time.

The sweet scent of the lilacs
trees, flowers, animals too
listening to the raindrops
as I lay here next to you.

The fresh scent of a baby
little hands and little feet
the simple things in our lives
sometimes make us feel complete.

Wow, this poem is absolutely beautiful, my friend. I love every stanza, every line, and every portrayal displayed here. I just was listening to some John Denver music, so this poem kept reminding me of something he may have written about and sang about. It holds the same genuine sentiments that his music grasps. I have to say that my favorite stanza would be this one:

"The sweet scent of the lilacs
    trees, flowers, animals too
    listening to the raindrops
as I lay here next to you."

That "filled up my senses like a night in a forest". haha. Sorry, I couldn't resist saying it. It's true, though! Excellent write!!

LOL That is too funny Valerie! I love the songs John Denver wrote, and to be compared with him is very flattering.
I appreciate your encouraging remarks, and I always look forward to them. Thanks so much my friend.

'Tis another one of your lovely pieces. The stanzas fit together perfectly, and the message it carries is very special. It's something that most people know, yet never realize, and it helps bring a lot of that to mind. Best of luck in the contest! ^-^

Very true Miss Scarlet. We just need to open our eyes to the beauty that life contains. Romance is great, but not always possible.

Awwwwwwwww, that is such a nice feeling poem, so full of inspiration of what we all should be satisfied with. Not every day is some wild romance,,,but each day is beautifully filled goodness, IF we choose to open our eyes. Nice one.
