Somber Parting

The soft sound of rain on the windows
Reminds me of the tears on my face
And nobody, not even me knows
Why these tears insist on falling

Why am I crying?
I have nothing to cry about
My family is kind, my friends are okay
Though they may be drifting
My will won't give out

There's not much to choose
I'm not afraid of the pain
There's little to lose
And much to gain

I'm not lying to myself
And I'm not lying to you
I will pull it together
I will see this through

Oh who am I kidding?
I can't stop time's progress
I'll soon be alone, I know
There's no way out of this mess

Author notes

My depressed side is back from vacation. Oh, woe is me.

I like this poem. I sometimes wonder why I feel like crying, when I have a good family and good friends too. Good Job!

I've felt like that. Me and my friends from a couple of years don't talk anymore. I like the flow and the emotion. Enjoyed reading.

Sorry to hear you are depressed. It sounds like you have it pretty strong...

This was an excellent description of depression, actually... it's very clea that the speaker is depressed, even before your author notes.

even your color choice and background seep with depression.

thanks for your entry and good luck in the contest.
