Quiet Solitude Isn't So Bad After All

When I need to think
I drive out to this special place.
There is a winding dirt road
that takes me to
one lane that meanders through
a corn field.
When you get to the back
you enter into a wooded area.
At this point you must walk.

The tall trees completely cover
the expanse of beautiful blue sky,
save for scattered rays of sunshine
that spatter the ground
in a daytime rendition
of twinkle twinkle little star.

This particular morning
it was early fall.
I stood and felt the autumn breeze
blow my hair in the wind
like the drapes in the window
of our old farmhouse would dance
when the wind gave them
the music to move.

In the midst of God's splendor
I contemplate all that is
right with the world
and
I have to really search
for subjects to contemplate
and then
I realize all I must do is
open my eyes and I will see
a whole lot that is right
all around me.

Coming to a clearing where
the one little trail opened up
to an expanse
The serenity I came here
in search of flooded over me.
There was a log pulled up
by a still smoldering bonfire pit.
I allowed my mind to wander
for a moment.
Deliberated on whether the
bonfire's flames were the
flames of two lovers
sharing an intimate night,
or
were they the fun and fiery flames
of a group of friends
sharing life?

At the core of my hidden utopia
there was a pond.
I walked over to the
little pool of paradise
and sat down on yet another
log love seat
-------alone.
And I realize
quiet solitude
isn't so bad
after all.

Grabbing a stick from the ground
I dip it into the water
and begin making
magical little figure eights appear
with some sort of slimy weed
clinging to the end of my magician's wand.

Turning back toward the firepit
one little glimmer of hope catches my eye.
Amidst the dusty ground
surrounding the fire pit
there grew a beautiful little cluster
of violet flowers
and
I realized that even in
the dry and arid days
when things seem to be
covered in dust,
if my roots are in God
He will give me the sustenance
to continue to bloom
to continue to grow
to continue to shine
to continue to be beautiful.

I love my little hiding place
symbolizing everything
that is right
in the world
today.

wow...what inspiration, hope and faith come out of this creative piece...And yes, now I am thinking that solitude is NOT so bad after all..I felt this way when I first went to Sedonia and the wonderfully landscaped portrait God had created with his splendor and saw a tiny lil purple flower growing right out of the red rock...it was then I cried like I never have cried...my soul opened up and allowed him to touch my heart! I treasure that memory, ty for this gentle luvly reminder! Much peace & blessings! xo Julez
