Goodbye to the Sun

So now the world
drifts towards a dream,
and the winged silence
flies just like a beam of light...
And sound.
Such a sweet and hollow sound.

Where once the day
shone bright and clear
through memories
and passing years

Now shadows of the parting rays
break apart what once were days
and nothing remains of you and I
but a little strip of light,
just a little strip of light

Now it comes, the moment lies
within the boldly painted skies
and all around you, there it flies,
the sound of sunlight as it dies.

Oh sweet death take me now
(take me now) x2
Oh sweet aching death
carry me off with a breath
sing me sweetly to the dream
nothing golden? So it seems...

Cause last night I said goodbye
to the bar of light
inside your amber eyes
And now I cannot find the strength in me
to live my life as it should be,
or take another breath and see
just what the morning holds....
colors, ashen colors
playing in the folds.

Oh sweet death take me now
(take me now, please take me now)
Oh sweet, aching death
carry me off with a breath
sing me sweetly to the dream
Nothing golden? So it seems...

Last night, I said goodbye
to the sun (to the sun)
Every second is an eon
Every hour burns like Freon
and what was that you said last night,
when the sun was gone from sight?
“I don’t want you to go.”
You shuddered as the night
swayed us to and fro.
And I told you “It’ll be all right,
it’s just another longing night.
Tomorrow will be brighter, dear.”
And as I whispered in your ear,
the words you hated so to hear.

I shuddered too...

Cause last night I said goodbye
to the bar of light
inside your amber eyes
And now I cannot find the strength in meeee
to live my life as it should be,
or take another breath and see
just what the morning holds....
colors, ashen colors
playing in the folds.

Author notes

Written after I had to say goodbye to my girlfriend, Julie...even for a day, it's hard.
And no, this was most definetly NOT a break up song lol.

    Superb, romantic; intriguing.

Very well written my friend. I found it to be quite moving indeed. You write exquiste poetry at times, which doesn't surprise me at all.

great write...i couldn't feel it as a song but that's probally cause there's no music. Ya breaking up stinks. especially when you do it in person and they start crying. well good luck with all that. brandon.
