He would stand so quiet and stoic
As other children would laugh and play
He could never join in or enjoy them
He was so withdrawn every day
But now as we come to the schoolyard
He perks up and a smile appears
“Dad, may I please play with Noah?”
And dad’s heart like all heaven cheers
They told us he could not learn well
But I refused to believe what they said
So we sat every night with the schoolwork
And tried until past time for bed
But now he reads every label
Every sign on every store
“Five times 4 is twenty,” he says
“See my spelling? I want to read more!”
His face was closed for all others
Yet I knew something more lay inside
But how could we reach through those tough scales?
And really know my little guy?
But now his face gleams so brightly
His happiness is genuine
My little bud has now opened
My son-flower’s face just shines
So often I’ve prayed pretty words
Asked just for myself or my gain
But now from the depths of my soul
Joy bursts through worry and pain
You have the heart of a father
When I wept, you wept and were near
You felt every moment of worry
You attended each moment and tear
You looked and saw my little buddy
Whose world was so far withdrawn
You guided us onward for his sake
And brought us where this day could dawn
Now my heart dances before You
No man can suppress this dad’s joy
The words in my every prayer now are
Thank You for what You’ve done for my boy
Author notes
It may be rough and the meter may not be perfect, but the words and the meaning are very real. It is written to God, and put here just to share.
Just wanted to give thanks.

Awesome!
This is a lovely poem and is heartfelt! I love how you give God the glory! It is God's work, yet He does use us as His vessals, so that He may more easily touch the souls He {and we} loves! -
Wow!

Wonderful Piece!
I hate it when so-called "experts" say someone cannot learn or are retarded or slow. The only thing wrong is not wrong at all: everyone learns in a different way; in fact, in one of three ways. Unfortunately, most teachers teach in only one way instead of incorporating all three methods; this latter bringing lessons to ALL the students instead of only about 1/4 of the classroom.
This is beautifully phrased and clearly conveys the love of a father for his child: as only God would have it.
My darling A/P sister Karen aka klassy lassy suggested I read some of your work, Steven. She knows I love to read the writings of brethren in Christ. I am so glad she sent your link to me.
Much love in Christ,

Steve, I was just looking at pictures of your family and the one of you standing with your son on the dock really caught my attention because you both light that picture up like sunshine and I thought, What a beautiful child! What man decrees is far from what God knows and reveals.
I love the faith and gratitude in this poem. It is a heartfelt wish I send for His blessings on you and your loved ones. It's a radiant poem!

What seems impossible in the natural, God can supersede in the spiritual. Some may see small steps-but you realize they are giant leaps and I can only imagine how your heart rejoices in everyday miracles. My daughter teaches autistic students and words cannot describe how rewarding it is for her when they accomplish tasks that they were never expected to by the world. One student wasn't able to read anything and the Lord lead her to a book and she has successfully taught this child to read. His his illiterate dad wants to learn, as well.
But back to your poem-thank you for sharing your joy with your readers-it's encouraging and most definitely a blessing in many ways!
Always nice to see something posted by you~blessings!vj
