In the well of my life
There came a single
Defining moment
When the darkness I felt
And the light I yearned for
Melted together
Filling the well
And I was left feeling
Empty
And full.
I stared at my reflection
In the ripples of water
And tried to see past
The building fear
As the waters in the well
Threatened to overflow
To drowned me.
It was then that he touched me
With cool soft fingers
Brushing against my own
And lifting me to my feet.
His eyes were filled with familiar darkness
And his smile warmed my soul like the sun.
Without words; he taught me to swim
I knew then that these feelings of being
Empty
And full
Would never leave me.
That the well will continue to fill
But I will not drown.
Author notes
Updated this poem. Had to. I think this one works better as the salvation within the work feels stronger, more alive.

Thanks. I'm not sure what I was going for but it seems to work out in the end. ^.^ Thank you for your comment.
