Pent up hostility,
mundanity is mumbled-
even the greatest tower
to such suffering has crumbled.
Darkness in the shadows glare,
shivering in the frosted air-
I’m there
Stuck in timely turmoil.
“Unfair”
breaths my unseen gargoyle.
If life is life
why live?
If death greets us all
why give so much of ourselves?
Why keep any emotion at all?
Such truths plague me
ever constantly-
so true and yet so fake.
There must be a mistake
So I go back and readjust,
yet secretly I know
that this thinking mind will turn to dust
and with the wind must go.
A soul, a soul!
Show me the proof.
Scientific dimensions
leave me aloof.
But know I believe
and no one can deceive.
All must see what I see
or burn for all eternity.
Wait—no,
this is right:
truth is an ever lasting fight.
Even as this poem ends
I’m thinking “Well that all depends.”
Such confusion and twisted misery
is the source of pent hostility.
