Lily

why dance among

the blades
unpigmented purity

glanced over and
overdressed
by some alien
omnipotent

anointed in
seduction
a scent of
new dead

or life

pumped blindly
from dark amnesia

oblivious perfection

pity John Gallianos
tortured mimicry

underfoot
in his face...

Author notes

This is random I know.......but it does have a point. The point is Lily is the name of a flower or the name of a girl. I was thinking how both can be oblivious to their own natural beauty. We often forget to look and wonder at the perfection of the bloom of a flower or of a girls cheek. But some people especially in the fashion idustry, strive constantly to improve on perfection, try to out do nature, but it can't be done. Who needs a blue Lily? SR Option 3

    mmmmm, i love!

I agree, who needs every color in order for it to be a lily or every lily even in order for it to be blue, whether a girl or any other name or person or place or thing we can attache anything to. Awsomed, the way you have strung your thoughts so amazingly together! You are a Finalist! Good Luck in the Contest Dear Poet!!!

I have to say, dear poetress(I guessed it right? ), this is really intriguing. It was, indeed, necesary to take my time and read it carefully, to understand its meaning.
And, even if I thought of myself as smart, and able to understand even the deepest of a poem's meaning, but yours was only complete with an explanation.
And, you are right, who needs a blue lily? Are we all oblivious to the perfection of nature, and also, humans? Because the way you chose the two elements(the Lily, the flower, and Lily, the girl) unificates both nature and human beings into one whole: perfect in it's union.
Fantastic piece, great choice of words, and good luck in the contest!
