The Present ... ( A Gift )

Will threads of sheer hope weave clouds in the sky
as I live and breathe while moments pass by?
Will the fabric of dreams hang stars in the night
and alter my paths come dawns early light?

As I journey onward I must pause and think
of souls that reached out as I stood on the brink.
Or the ones that smiled whenever we met
without ever looking for what they could get!

My hopes and my dreams they’re my daily bread,
my past stands behind ~ all my future's ahead;
For the present moment I meditate
and breathe in the joy of that cognitive state ...

    a truly inspiring poem you have offered us here in this contest ... I enjoyed the rhyme and meter very much, as well as the beautiful imagery you used in order to reveal us your message of how to be present in the here and now ... there is a lot of gentleness and serenity that shines through your words, I could feel this ...
    thank you so much for such a delightful contribution ...
    all the best,

    maa

    It's like you've been reading my mind. I've written several on this very subject. In truth, there is nothing but the present. That's why I live for it. Good luck in the contest.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long
