Just glad to be alive
To be able to smile
To walk around
Smell flowers
To watch the sunrise
see it setting
feel the wind on my skin
have enough meals to relish on
sleep peacefully
be healthy
I'm thankful
To have a Best Friend
To have someone to love
To belong to a family

I can Breathe
That I'm living

You would think in all the endless ponderings in this life... the answers would be greater than this... but what greater purpose can you possibly strive for other than to simply walk through life and say... I'm content... I am Happy... and as you put it... I am thankful. Life is what you make it... accept what you have... don't strive for more than you have... what greater wisdom could anyone learn?
The Only Dependable thing about the future is Uncertainty.

This is a refreshing and juvenating piece. It's nice to see someone really sitting back and appreciating things. It's simple and endearing and I think that's very fitting.

After losing my brother so tragically in 2005...I for one am so thankful I still have my life, but I always keep wishing it were him alive instead...this is not meant to be a sad comment but it made me think about him and of course anyone else that has now gone...life is so short, we must be thankful for everything, even down to the air we breathe, that's why we must also look after the Earth and each other...I will get down from my soap box now lol...
I like this poem because there is more between the lines, and it makes the reader really think...

what an excellently thoughtful poem! We sometimes say the things we are thankful for once a year or so, but it is something that helps us go on, so kudos for recogninzing what you HAVE over what you do not! One suggestion, perhaps dropping the 'on' at the end of L9 or perhaps even: 'Have enough sustenance to relish'. Just s thought and not of much import, as this poem certainly stands as is just fine. Best of luck in this and all of your endeavors.

Such a sweet, and simple meaning. Those little things that we all tend to overlook in our busy lives full of cell phones, I-Pods, digital cameras, and so much more. We've forgotten to be thankful for all of that. This poem captures the feeling of gratitude for all those things we've lost. Wonderful job!

It's so nice to see someone who can actually be greatful for what they've got. We often want more and complain about our lives but often enough they are fine or fine-ish. We are healthy, sane (mostly) and cared for so why complain really? I do sometimes have that attitude too, but I often stop and think how lucky I am compared to some others who don't have as much as I do as far as support is concerned. Well wrote and well presented.

There are so many things in the world to be thankful for, but so many times human nature is to be negative and only look at that side of life. It's good to read an honest poem full of gratitude towards life. To be able to breathe is an honor as some people can't and it is done through machines.
