Parents splitting up
My heart sinking down
I lived at my friends house
Till it all came back around
We talked about the good
To keep my mind off the bad
And tried not to think of mom and dad
The end wasn't the best
But my friend sure did try
And i tried not to cry
The love for my friend
Sure did not end
And now all is well
In the house of the swell.

Some things in life are just so hard to take. I like how you take a very difficult scenario and still remind the reader that it is truly important to be a friend when someone is in need.
Good luck in the contest and thanks for entering. -
My parents divorced when I was four so I didn't really have to go through it during my older years. But I know how much a friend can mean to you when you need them most. Well done! Thanks for your entry and I hope you're enjoying your stay on the site

Thank you for entering.
The family unit is the core of family life. The breakup of a family is truly devastating, knowing someone is there to help us through this difficult time is what helps us to go from day to day, helps us to cope with all the hurt feelings and keep a positive view of the future which is something we all need.
Well done and thank you for entering the contest

Thanks for entering
Watching parents break up and divorce is never easy as there are all sorts of emotions and sometimes even blame being thrown around. In the end it is two people that just grow apart and no longer see eye to eye on various aspects of life. You are lucky to have a friend stand by you in such a moment of true need.
Let the ink flow and your fingers dance

Thanks for your entry
You have written very heartfelt feelings about the breakup of a family. It does indeed break up the children as well. It's wonderful when you have such caring friends around you to help in this time of need.
This would have read better as a free verse, that way you are writing your feelings without the constraints of trying to rhyme it all.
Welcome to the site. Hope you enjoy it here

Thanks for the entry and welcome to the site!
How very nice to have such a giving and wonderful friend. When parents “break”, so does the children and I know this from personal experience. I was also lucky and had a very good friend that helped me through it. A very relatable poem here
Thank you very much for taking the time to write for and enter our contest. Best wishes and welcome to Allpoetry

Thanks for your entry
You tried a little too hard to rhyme each line. I think you would have done better to leave off the rhyming. As you have turned a serious subject into something lighthearted and trivial. I am sure that wasn't your intent.
Good luck in the contest and welcome to allpoetry.I encourage you to keep writing to read and comment.
God Bless
