Imperfection

We are made imperfect
Stained by sin
Unable to keep
From giving in
Yet still we strive
To do our best
To live in light
is our solemn quest
Again and again
We faulter and fail
and casting ourselves down
We weep and wail
Imperfect beings
lost in sin
Yet beauty comes
When we let Jesus in
For imperfection is our lot
lessons learned then forgot
remembering not what we're taught
and against ourselves for which we've fought
Here though is the beauty
Though blackest sin lingers
Deep in our heart
And desires tear at us
Rend us apart
Here is the gift
That Jesus Gives
Where others scorn
He forgives

Author notes

Imajesusfreak!

Everybody falters, for mankind is an imperfect race, prone to sin, and no matter what, no matter how hard we try, we remain sinners. Whether it be a lie, murder, adultery, or greed, it is all accounted as sin in the eyes of the Lord. The Marvel of Jesus is that by accepting him into our lives, we are forgiven for those sins that we cannot help but commit. That does not mean that we are free to go on sinning again and again because in the end we know we will be forgiven, only that in acknowledging our imperfection and asking for forgiveness we are forgiven.
Everybody makes mistakes, and some habits and thoughts are hard to shake, but in the end, the choice of whether you submit to them or not is still up to you.

    I agree.

We all do fail and falter as you say and yet forgiveness is there. I think some try to hold an unrealistic view of never being one that has temptations.

    Well put

I liked this piece. I covers the pain of our darkest sins (in the case of the contest lust, fornication, adultery) and the forgiveness available for even these.

Very well said. God gave us free will; the choice is ours.
