Finally raining
It's been dry a long,long time
Everything is parched
Earth greedily sucks rain in
Flora start to grow again.
Author notes
During the dry seaso my grass turns a drab brown and bushes wilt,Rain renews, refreshes.

Wonderful Tanka. I love structured poetry. I don't know it this is right for my contest.. but it's a most delightful pen! Best of luck.
Keep it up =] -
What a short and sweet poem (:
Liked this, thanks for entering!

Very simple, very nice. I like it..good luck!

Wonderful! I really like this. I can just see dry cracked land starting to respond to the water of rain. Very good images and a very nice thought. Hugs, Penny

this is nice. with a bit of restructuring could be increadible i am thinking... guess my main critique is using long twice... could say 'for so long' or something to get it across a little smoother.
enjoyable read.
much respect.

This is lovely, Billbard, another fine addition to my contest. You took advantage of one of the great points of Tanka - metaphor, similes, and personification are all quite allowed in Tanka, unlike haiku .. You managed both the classic nature form, and a creative imagery. Lovely! ^_^

well done
This is excellent! Tanka ... cool. Thanx for this, up in the NE the weather has been the opposite, we had record rainfall in NY, broke the old record set in 1903!
