As We Lay

As we lay in the dew stained grass in the morning sun
We stare into each other’s eyes and smile quietly
I am reminded of why I love you
Your eyes, your smile, your laugh, your touch
You roll next to me, and place your hand on my back
We sit there quietly, not a word is spoken but much is said
We stare at each other once again
You have the longing stare in your eye
We lean in toward each other as if to kiss
And that’s when I open my eyes
And awake from a dream

Author notes

Not a fan at non-rhyming poems, but I gave it a shot.
