soriiiiC. First Cause
Averroes agrees with Aristotle that there is a first cause, and he accepts a modified version of Avicenna’s proof from contingency. Objects whose existence is contingent rather than necessary. God’s own essence cannot have preceded his existence so God must he, so to speak, pure existence. There must be first cause as an efficient cause, for the being in the world to exist there must be someone whose existence is not cause by somebody but by himself or shall we say the first cause because otherwise no effect would ever have occurred, that is nothing in the natural would exist, that first cause is God, a cause that is in itself not the effect of something external to it. the being in the world cannot exist with out this first cause, for example our parents as the efficient cause of our existence, their parents as the efficient cause of their existence but all of the beings in the series that brought about my birth are dependent on a greater being who is more real than any of them. It is simply illustrate how the series of causes occur in the world from the first cause to efficient cause as what Averroes agrees with Aristotle.
If God has no cause then we can not assume that everything has a cause. For instance the universe might as well not have a cause if God does not have one. He also states that it is possible to imagine the world begins to exist and it is also possible to imagine that the world did not exist. We simply choose to think that the world had to have a beginning
