in manitoba's fierce
winter midnight chill
frozen fairies woke
and skated diamond etchings
of feathery mountainside evergreens
that transformed morning's light
to scattered rainbow gems
gently i'd lay my palm
on fragile paradise
awed and disappointed
i'd missed them again.
fifteen years later
hundreds of miles south
they found me again
and pirouetted swan feathers
on the saturn's cold green roof
my astonished stepfather gaped
"have you ever seen
anything like it?"
and after thousands
of lost fantasies
fairies became possible
again
Please tell me what you think
