I wear no uniforms, no blues or greens.
But, I am in the military, in the ranks rarely seen.
I have no rank upon my shoulders. Salutes I do not give.
But in the military world is where I live and am rarely seen.
I am not in the chain of command, orders I do not give or get.
But my husband is the one who does, this I can not forget.
I am not the one who fires a weapon, Who puts his life on the line.
But my job is just as tough, I’m the one who is always left behind.
My husband is a patriot, a brave and pride filled man.
And the call to serve his country not all can understand.
Behind the lines, I see things needed to keep this country free.
My husband makes the sacrifice, but so do my kids and me.
I love the man I married. The military is his life.
So I pledge to support my hero and stand among the silent ranks known as
THE MILITARY WIFE
Author notes
I wrote this for my soon to be ex wife the first time I deployed to show here that her job as a Militart WIFE was a hard one and I know that.
Please tell me what you think

hmmm
It is very good, but I've seen this everywhere and it always says "Author Unkown"...I'm not saying you didn't write it, if you say you did...you did. But you need to take credit for what you write if so. -
so interesting
i love this poem.. it looks really different but interesting. "military" wow really cool
keep writing.

-
Hmm, that's a tough job to support the military man! "Military Wife"- well said, I liked that phrase.
-
Beautifully done! The silent ranks can sometimes be just as often if not more often the hardest rank to be in. You portrayed the wifes feelings for her husband and what she thinks of her hero very poignantly. Keep writing!

Can someone slap suicidle,
I am a wife of someone who spent 18 months tied up with the Iraq war, I have a Son who is following in his Fathers footsteps,
There is no greater fear then knowing a loved one is out in a war torn country..
Not to mention the many lives on the home front that have been torn apart. Divorce, loss of homes, Poor health care to our wounded many many things the war does not speak of, I could go on for a very long time,
But bottom line is these Men and Women have done what many can't do they stood up and took an oath,
And I wish each and everyone of them Godspeed.
A tender write of expressing feelings.
Bless you

I did not see anything funny or cute about this poem. I am a soldier's mother, I have been for more than seven years. I know what it means to sit and wait for news. This poem is filled with the pain those left behind feel. You did good here, son, I will think of you and hope you stay safe.

lol I liked this one. It was cute in a military way.

oh my god
i am balling my eyes out i am so sorry what can i say you left me speechless -
Great piece. Once of my fears of being in the military is just that. A general once told me that a military marriage needs to be 100X stronger than a civilian one. I just wonder how to build such a relationship?
Thank you for your service and the sacrifices you have made.

This was wonderful, and so very true. I love your wording and phrasing, and your depth of emotion when describing the military wife. For I have been one. Though not in a time of war or conflict. The strength that these women have is amazing, just like this poem. great job.

Oh man. This was a great piece. I can't tell you how much I loved this poem. It was so well written. You were able to make it rhyme smoothly without forcing it. I just loved it very much. I was going to tell you my favorite lines, but I'd have to rewrite the whole thing, because it was that good. You did a great job. I commend you on that. I know what it is to have someone over seas and though he is my brother, I know personally how hard it is for the family who is left behind. Very good piece.

Oh wow...........how well this is written!
Great job and how well you were able to see her side.......says alot about you! -
So very true, i think that sometimes she (or him if its military husband) has the hardest job. I'd like to quote the "Military Wife Ten Commandments
1.Thou shalt not write in ink in thy address book.
2.Thou shalt not covet choice assignments of other uniformed braches of service.
3.Love thy neighbor.
4. Honor thy Commissary and Exchange as long as they both shall live.
5.Thou shalt not ridicule a local politician, for mighty senators from local politicians grow.
6.Thou shall look for the best in every assignment, even though the best may be. "The most childhood diseases in one year," or "Record snow in one months time."
7. Thou shall remember all thy friends from all thy assignments, with greeting cards at Christmas, for thou never knowest when thou may wish to spendeth a night with them while enroute to a new post/base.
8.Be kind and gentle to retired, white-haired Exchange and Commissary customers, because thou too will be a retiree someday.
9.Thou shalt not curse thy husband when he's on TDY on moving day.
10.Thou must never arrive at a new post/base and constantly brag about how everything was much better at the last post/base.
