My world has lost all color
I see only black and gray
washed with shades of nothingness
since you went away
I used to see the yellows
lemon, saffron, gold
The brightness of the sunshine
were wonders to behold
The blues that ran thru life
azure skies and sapphire seas
were there till like cerulean ice
I froze in your arctic breeze
Oh what I’d give for amethyst
Magenta, lilac, wine
to splash across my vision
a stroke of plum, would be divine
But I cannot see them
those tantalizing hues
Everything is monochrome
with nothingness suffused
red, crimson, scarlet, ruby,
Oh, God I miss their fire
Luscious cherry, passion pink
The colors of desire
And the earthy tones
cinnamon, umber, green
dancing jade and emerald leaves
without you can’t be seen
Now I sit here vanishing
The world jet-black debris
even murky shadows fade
shades of nothingness…
conquer me
