Evoking a single moment of trust into thy being I find myself at a loss
A loss for words, a loss for thought, a loss pride and even dignity
How one could be thrust upon the plain of trust at a single glimpse is beyond the understanding of this very writer
And yet I feel compelled to trust you with my thoughts and very harboring of my soul
Thusly I continue upon the plain of trust to to tell you this:
"Trust no one"
It is the weeping and the mad that calls upon such a great indignity as trust
We trust because we search for trust from others
It makes us feel as though, by some singular action, we might matter in this world
It is our pathetic and trifling need to be wanted that compels the human species into such a loathing as trust
Is it not that we trust those that we most deeply despise?
A student trusts his/her teacher with deep and dark secrets of homely abuse
Yet this is the very person they sneer at on a daily basis
It is the thought that we, as humans, might can be important enough to have someone WANT our trust that makes the idea so whimsically divine
So I say to you, dear friend, keep this notion in mind the next time you attempt to produce confidence upon another:
Why would someone want to carry a burden that you, yourself do not have the patience to hold?

I liked this line 'Is it not that we trust those that we most deeply despise?'
It was quite thought provoking.
And your last line was killer as well... you make a valid point.
Thank you for your entry and good luck in the contest
