she rises from dark depths
a mantle of velvet is her hair
spattered with shimmering flecks.
Glorious head tilts down, a twinkle in her eye.
Nothing could surpass this elegance.
She stops at a rippling mirror
framed by shades of green and brown.
It seems to add a frame around the lady.
This picture I present to you
is none other than the Lady Moon,
rising to the twilight sky
highlights of stars in night black hair.
Turning her face toward us
North star sparkles in her eye.
Her image reflected by
forest shrouded lake
where Frog rippled the surface.
Oh, beautiful Moon, oh wonderful night!

Lovely imagery and the lines were just simply beautiful
Although, you've showed such images to inspire awes to the reader, I think it would be nice to tell something about this elegant lady to further make the theme stronger- might be unnecessary, though since it's a good piece as it is
All in all, quite impressive and all that
-

beautiful
You really tell about this elegant lady so well in your poem. I was surprised by the moon, but I do enjoy surprise endings.

-
I love the way you have personified the moon as an elegant lady. As a suggestion, I would have left out
"This picture I present to you
is none other than the Lady Moon, "
and place this in the AN.
Always leave a little bit of mystery in your poems.
-
I think this is a wonderful poem. wonderful flow it runs smoothly. The detail work is awsome, and it was a pleasure to read.
-
I know it is supposed to be the moon, but this made me picture the evil queen from Snow White. Not the hag version, but her when she was the fairest of them all. Anyways this was a cute poem.
-
-
Thanks. I can see where you could think of the evil queen from Snow White. LOL I never thought of that but it kinda does.

-
Beautiful and elegant
You set a nice tone in this. I enjoyed the read.

-
Very nice poem I love the picture that you enabled me to see through your poem I could picture it exaclty! I have a suggestion though you might want to change line 8 "framed by shades of green and brown". To shades of green and blue or green and black! Thank you very much for entering my contest and God bless!

-
-
Thank you for the thoughtful comment, I am glad you enjoyed it. And thank you for the suggestion of changing line eight but "framed" fits better because there is a line before that that says "This PICTURE I present". See what I mean?
-
-
yes I know I didn't mean that I meant "framed by shades of green and blue" or "framed by shades of green and black".

Good
A good interpretation of "Lady Moon." a calm tranquil poem that is pristine in nature and intent. The words flow from the tongue rolling gently into the heart. -
Lady Moon
is a wonderful aspect of our lives. While just last night, she was prominent even more in the night sky, with the lunar eclipse.
Your words and images flow wonderfully, casting her in a new light, with a clearer focus. Niaish for sharing.

-
This is a serene poem describing the matchless moon that rules the night and touches our hearts with her beauty. I like the structure of this poem delivering a vision and later bringing it into focus. Niaish for sharing this lovely work.

Such a lovely write and so romantic, as I think most of us are who love poetry. This paints a picture on the window of your mind and I love that style. So pleased to see someone who writes firstly for her(or him)self before others and if someone else likes it too, that is a welcome bonus. This is beautiful.

Stunning and vivid imagery in this piece. I've never read the book but I've seen the movie and really liked it. Awesome write. Thanks for the entry in my contest.
-
Lovely!
My, what a lovely poem! The imagery is so amazing and fresh, so lush. You really captured my attention as well as my heart with the great descriptions.
The poem is also crafted very skillfully. I actually had to double-take once I got to the lines "This picture I present to you / is none other than the Lady Moon". Up until that point, I imagined a literal woman, but then going back, I found every description and image to work perfectly in both ways, in describing the moon as well. Great use of double-entendre there!
Overall, I just loved the poem and I had a great time reading it and taking in the beauty you so elegantly wove. Please keep writing!
~Gabreon~

This is really beautiful, Annie Scott, and I love it. It's a wonderfully imaginative way of seeing the moon in all her glory and I'm so glad you call her "Lady". It also has lovely touches of humour: "a twinkle in her eye","frog rippled surface". I wonder if you could find another description for "North Star twinkles in her eye"? It is a trifle too close to your first matephor. Not wrong, but you have so much imagination I'm sure you could find another description.
I have enjoyed reading it and am glad you loved writing it. That's how poetry should be. Good luck in the contest.

-
Interesting tale of the Lady of the Moon. Pale comparision to the poem title "The Enchanted Forest", only two lines hint she lives in one. Good luck inthe contest...~Sie
-
-
Ah that's just it
The Lady moon lives above the forest and pretty much where ever she pleases.
She gets to look down at the enchanted forest and watch the antics of the inhabitants. But I could not include that because it did not go along with my inspiration.

-
A beautiful ode to the moon. Thank you for a lovely entry and good luck.
