Like Oak

I let go the leaves, and regenerate.
Like oak, solid with roots that
reach forever. Sustenance rises, to give
this Tree of Life...life. I sway to cold
winds and yet remain intact, but sometimes broken.
My bark, carved by lost loves and those, that have impacted me.
I reach the sky, to feel light and...
soar.

I have a fetish with trees lately, in my writing I mean. This is strong like the very oak. Nicely done.

I like the way this poem paces slowly from roots, to bark to sky - sort of like a soul - starting over each year. Well paced, sense of balance (like applying make-up).

i think a tree, usually oak, is one of the most common metaphors to life, but it always works well. :]

Ah yes . . . wouldn't it be nice to understand the inner knowledge of an ancient oak, all that it has seen, all that it has endured whether, it be from the seasons or from mankind? Another good one, my dear!!!!

    reminds me of home

    i was born in cali
this woman that lived next to us (by the name of Astrid)was a new age Druidess.
she would allways quote to me poem lines she had written about being a wolf or blade of grass or tree....

this truly reminded me of the times i shared with that sweet woman!
    thanks!

    worthy of gold.

i have to completely agree with amera, that there is so much beauty, that for me, this is truly overwhelming. You've brought this oak to a life of it's own and in a very unique way. Can't quite place my finger on it, but lady, does it ever work!!!!!!!!!

Oh my! Lovely! The image you put in my mind is pure beauty, nature at her best. This reminded me of Japanese poetry the way nature is glorified. Well done.

    Love,
    Amera
