the morning sky was an alarming contradiction
to your smile and eyes, both glowing with midnight.
the way my pale skin alway made you look tanner.
the world outside my window sounded light-hearted,
but in this house the words fall heavily to the ground.
while question marks ascend and plague us.
in the end misery loves company,
but windows offer sweet relief.
