Wanting some rest, the toil of life goes on
Over and over again...he's worked to the bone
Remembering long ago, what it took to survive
Kindness was the only thing he wanted to earn
Especially when he didn't care about the price
Day and night working...much to his own chagrin
This went on and on...days turned into months
Over the course of time, he's been forgotten
Terrible misfortunes confronted him and still he worked
Holding onto only one ideal, there was a price to pay
Eternally locked in dispute, and now the piper calls
Before too long, even he's forgetten why he toils
Of the many ironies of life, his was taken for granted
Now not only has time been wasted, but he's lost all heart
Especially when he was worked to the bone, there's nothing left
