you put the unresting to sleep that day

you give me so much black and blue,
and now i'm trapped under the weight of this disaster.
      [ bleeding inside and out, but there's thounsands more like me. ]


"i love you forever." snuck into my pocket,
            just incase i can't be saved,
  and i'm breathing in this terror 'til i die.


but there's a voice i hear through the rubble,
and i'm trying so hard to scream,
suddenly i know this will be over soon,
suddenly i know i'll be okay.


and the confusion hits when i'm up again;
    i didn't know these angels had fallen,
and i was i the source of so much pain.


when i see you i can breathe again,
although my lungs are crapped up and bleeding,
they couldn't kill me, i'm far too strong;
    but you nearly stopped my heart when you smiled.


the casualties are unthinkable,
        there were so many left to be saved.
[ so why me? ]
but i'm grateful in my sadness.


the forever scars of the nation,
    i believe, will never heal;
and if i could wave me magic wand,
i'd make thousands more lucky like me,
but the angels fell and i tried my best.
