It was my first day in a new town.
The local people were friendly,
but they had an odd sense of humour
that I didn’t understand.
I lost my way heading for work.
So I asked a man (with a strange squint)
for the directions.
He said I should hang-a-right at the next turn.
It was unfortunate that my car
was the literal sort.
Author notes
A pretty lame attempt, but it was fun nevertheless.

I remember I saw this picture somewhere before...
It's almost impossible to believe that someone managed to get the car in that situation huh?
anyway, you translated a humorous picture into quite a beautiful and serious poem... a piece of art on its own!
-
Heh, sounds like the car just couldn't get it. Had to do exactly as told. Hang a right! LOL Glad the helpful man didn't say turn right at the wrecking yard. Would hate have seen that.
Thanks for the entry into the contest.
Be well and be blessed,

This one is pretty good. Good luck in the contest...

Ha! You're right... this looks like it was a lot of fun to concieve. The author's notes betray a knowledge that it isn't exactly ground-breaking work, but it doesn't have to be. I had a chuckle, and I really didn't see where you were going until you got there. Good job!
Good luck in your future works.

What a hilarious poem that matches the picture
so very well. Don't you just hate it when the
directions seem so confusing? lol.
