If I could write a poem, I'd fill that poem with love
If I could paint a picture, it would be of the sky above
If I could sing a song, It would come right from my heart
If I could teach understanding, I know just where I'd start
I would start with little babies, singing songs of gentleness
I would teach songs to the toddlers, with a little tenderness
I would teach the little children, who are just beginning school
I would also tell their parents, observe the golden rule
For we can be a better teacher, if we practice what we say
We'll have a better pupil, if we do this every day
They'll be a better neighbor, they'll be a better friend
They'll walk that extra mile, maybe to the journeys end
So why not give a smile, maybe a hug or two
Someone may just give, them all right back to you
A smile in any language, is always a welcomed sight
It just may be the start, of a friendship that takes flight
