Grapefruit moon, one star shining,
Shining down on me.
I feel the song, and soon am pining,
For love’s sweet purity.
The road has left me worn and weary;
Gasping while I bide.
Grapefruit moon, one star shining
Cannot turn the tide.
The radio’s gone off the air,
And gives me time to think
Of how long I’ve run on a spare
To make it to the brink.
I ease it out and creep across
As all the lights go down.
Left with lines and lovers lost
By morning, out of town.
Kissing one more block
I Remember someone that I passed.
I let the engine talk.
It whispers, “Home at last.”
And grapefruit moon, one star shining,
Is hard to hide alone.
I hear the song, and soon am pining.
For that someone’s home.
They say if you get far enough away,
You’re on your way back home.

The imagery of grapefruit moon is fantastic. It's very original and makes me want to go write poetry just because it's inspirational. Thanks for that
