I thought love didn't exist
A simple trick of the mind
Then I met you
You were one of a kind
So I believed in love again
And for the first time
I gave someone my heart
I had someone to call mine
I believed in love
More than ever before
And before I knew it
Love walked right out the door
I still believe in love
Though it stole my heart away from me
I knew it was coming
But it was something I refused to see
Still believe in love
As steady as my heartbeat
Does my heart throb in your hand?
Your trophy of my defeat
I can't help but believe in love
Though my hope's been destroyed
Thanks to you, I'm done
Love is something I'd like to avoid

I can relate to these lines incredibly well...I don't believe in it either. You've written a fantastic poem here and conveyed across to us what alot of people have lost-faith in. Good luck

Nice. As per usual, the rhyming was subtle enough for me and the flow meshed well. You are a goddess of poetry. Good luck with the contest!
