Timeless Journey

The touch of the bark is beautified, yet, weathered,
it reminds me of your life-lined, open face,
rivulets where tear soaked gullies
have left their mark unmercifully.

Grey-headedness has been a monument
from time indefinite; bequeathed since time beginning,
many have sheltered beneath your monolithic boughs,
patience having rained droplets of salve
where grasping hands have gleaned your wisdom.

The road to knowledge has many turnings
all culminating in one central core
colored as they are by life and circumstance
they encompass the very root you proffer to share.

Oh wise one, your years are many on their timeless journey
will the cup each one yearns to sup fill every need?
will there be satisfaction in every swallow?
or will all be lost in an endeavor to bleed you dry?

Wonderful poem about nature. I have a poem about the life of a tree. I love nature much as well. You have some very choice words for the description. Overall this is a great piece. The first line stating the beauty of the tree and the last line showing fear of mans destruction of such a precious thing is something that also frets in my heart. I enjoy the title, being trees have been around forever.

    superb!

This feels like a wonderful journey of nature and philosophy. Your graphic is just beautiful and captures so well the essence of your words. The image of sitting uder such a tree with grandfather and child. Learning their roots, lifes lessons and listening to tales of yore sweeps through my head. Can almost feel the grass tickling my toes. Such a joy it is to come and read you. I've missed you...
