UnSeelie XIX

He did not recognize the man staring back at him from the mirror; his short cropped hair was now shoulder length and the color of a fox pelt at sunset.  The left side of his face was covered in black furr like a cat, except for the monarch tattoo, and the eye glowed yellow around a large irridecent iris.

His mouth stretched out in a howl of grief.  What had they done to him?  He lifted up his hands to his face and saw the same furr on his right hand, the wrist sporting a tat of the crimson dragonfly.

It stood behind him, grinning in silence.  Rage boiled up from deep inside as it just continued to watch him.  He growled and rounded to attack his tormentor but found himself being tossed across the room like a rag doll.

"Now, now, you do not want to hurt Faun."  It shuddered calmly as it glanced down at him, then picked him up from the floor.

"The hell I don't."  He challenged the creature.  Those strong alien hands brought him face to face with it's cold eyes.

"You do wish to go home?  If you follow Faun's instructions, you may live."  It slanted it's head in question.  "Hunter, does remember home?"

He tried to think of home but could only pull up vague images and feelings.  A woman in a white shirt, laughter, and love.  What was her name?  Mary?  He attempted to remember his name, his childhood, and found dim memories.  His mouth went dry as he realized he couldn't remember who he was, what his name was.  Everything he had known was slipping away.

"What did you do?"  He whispered horsely.

"Faun did nothing."  It released him and he stumbled back toward the mirror.

She was standing there, the woman in the white shirt, so soft, warm, and earthy.  His heart ached at the sight of her as she crossed into the room.  He could smell the Egyptian musk she always wore as he pulled her into his arms.  He rubbed his face in her rich expresso brown long hair and bent to kiss her mouth.

Her lips were sweet and warm, a memory crashed into his battered mind then disappeared as suddenly the kiss grew cold and seering as death.  He jerked out of Her embrace ready to strike but was grabbed and held from doing Her harm.  Her eyes burned with disdain as the glamour melted into mist.

"Damn you."  He twisted free from Faun's hold but did not trust to turn his back on them.  As the mask slowly swept away so did Her shadowy cloak revealing Niceven in Her totality.  Her lay body bared before him, pale and graceful but for the open cavity over her breast and ribs torn and empty like a cage without a canary.

He shook his head in dismay, Her perfect champaign breasts framed the wound displaying sternum, blood, and bone.

"We are already damned."  She sighed quietly then disappeared from the room.
