I Look Up To The Night Sky

I look up to the night sky,
and yell out the question, why?
Why is life so very rough?
Now my heart is really tough..

Even I can’t take much more,
such sadness I had in store.
And when I try to improve,
life slides me back in my groove.

So now I stand with my soul bare
shouting out in the night air.
Why  is my life very hard
and my heart so very scarred?

White hot tears slide down my face
as I see I lost life’s race.
That is when I saw a glow
as the sky put on a show.

Northern lights danced cross the sky,
as I melted with a sigh.
And then as a final gift,
shooting stars were flying swift.

Then I saw this life was mine,
even though it wasn’t fine.
Answers are not mine to get,
at least they are not mine yet.

But He will not leave me alone,
He always makes his love known.
So if I ask why I’m here,
it is to hold his love dear.

    Very thought-provoking

My favourite lines were; 'Then I saw this life was mine,
    even though it wasn’t fine.'
Many people expect life to be perfect- as if that is one of our human rights. It simply isn't- that we have our life is a gift indeed. Waiting for perfection doesn't work- you have to go with what you have and make the most of it.

This is a wonderfully thought provoking poem; full of ideas as well as emotion.

This is such a sad yet at the same time uplifting piece of poetry.

I loved this verse and the imagery is great...

Northern lights danced cross the sky,
as I melted with a sigh.
And then as a final gift,
    shooting stars were flying swift.

Congratulations on the trophy. Well deserved.

    Very Good

    Lovely words

    Soft introspection in this

    I felt your words

    Like the ending

But He will not leave me alone,
He always makes his love known.
So if I ask why I’m here,
it is to hold his love dear.

    Rick

Congratulations on the honorable mention. With such demanding questions to the reason as to our being a simple answer appears in reaction and we find the beauty all around that is His gift to us. We must then take that gift and replace our wondering with it to lift our spirits high.
Well written, be well and be blessed.

Powerful poem! Brings such great emotion to the fact that we sometimes just don't know why we are here, or why it is ruff. But God is there for us, and that is all we need!

    Darkness turning into light,
It can be hard at times ~ fighting off darkened thoughts ~ but there is always a light at the end of life's tunnel. We just need to seek it out sometimes. Our own lust for darkness can control our thoughts without us even aknowledging it. I often catch myself thinking this way and have to [mentally] throw that thinking pattern out of my head, In order to make way for the positive thoughts to take over.
Your ending was of light, in the form of faith, pushing the light into the mind of the reader, leaving a lasting impresssion of beauty... Well done.
