Dark Horizon

In moonlight she calls
a slight sparkle to her trembling voice.
I slip into her shallows
and her taffy scent draws me in.

And from a billion miles away
the shy sisterhood of evening stars
shimmer and wink,
and drop their midnight cloaks
to stand in brilliant nakedness before me,
ever blowing salt-dusted kisses
from her farthest horizon.

and tonight...
tonight I may follow.

I've always wondered how far she would let me swim
towards those sparkling sirens
before she would finally take me
for her own.

A very deep, almost ethereal write. Well constructed imagery. From an artists perspective all I have to work with here is an image of a water course and the night sky - searching for more detail.

This has an almost metaphysical or spiritual feeling to it that is hard to deny. I kind of felt as if I were sinking in to the poem itself, which is not a bad thing at all. Quite welcome actually. Your second stanza here was beautiful.

    Blue Beauty, truly

What an image this interstellar beauty creates! You've created a star studded dreamy poem here. The comparative use of the galaxy and the love of it, clearly stands out in this poem. The astronaut that longs for his/her love to roam the stars.... just the imagery I see here. Really beautiful poem. Wishing you all the best in the contest.
