Gold Dust and Rust

Every Day
I look at the ugly orange bottle
innocent blue pills
So tiny so powerful
I take them to chase that glitter
The golden happiness
That impossible shine
Sometimes I think
that rusty iron fencing
and tarnished silver is
prettier.
Happiness is too shiny
it hurts my eyes
and sometimes my heart
That golden dust which suffuses life
What we do to chase that
Shine
that glow
Hurts
Wounds
I think
I'll take my pill
and chase
My own Shine

Definantly unique, and personal. Thank you for going out on a limb with this, and beign daring to accept any & all "evl" comments. This take courage to write, and ti was most definantly different in it's own way. I enjoyed reading this, and it got me thinking.

    Good luck in the contest.

i think the message of this poem is certainly an admirable one. it is indeed better to be a miserable nice person than a happy person who has lost touch with reality. thank you so much for sharing this piece, keep up the great work. tim aka childofthenight

It seems a bit more like a ramble than a piece of poetry... you repeat "shine" and "hurt" several times over without any elaboration -- just those words, and I believe there could have been more said. You take your pill, and seek an alternitive -- with the pill. That part is interesting, a choice made by an individual, in the least.
