My hands are cupped, my head held high,
Catching the tears that fall, from miseries side.
Pain, hate, even laughter at times,
Felt through the vessels, from your heart to mine.
Traveling this world, elbow to elbow,
Minds recreating, images only we know.
Inside known well, by the fate of a man,
Gathered within his embrace, his love and command.
My weaknesses known, my strengths brought forth,
Anger silenced, just by your word.
Eyes of understanding, when my mouth screams out loud,
Lips of heaven, a smile of purity, sadness not allowed.
Whispers when the nights get lonely, and the days seem distressed,
Simply soothed away, by a gentle caress.
Cupped within my hands, is that of a gentle soul,
Of the one that knows me well, in his hands, my heart he holds.

I believe love is a gift, that can be shared with many to many certain levels. I believe there are many soulmates, one that knows you the most, the significant other, the others are those friends that are needed to help us journey our path through life. And that knows us better than most.

I think there is more to this poem than at first meets the eye, and each time I've read it I've liked it even more. You've shown not only the love and deep understanding two people share, but also the pain. Yet despite that, the relationship grows and thrives with that understanding of each other. I loved your author's notes as well. It is a sentiment many others seem to share, and even I have started believing it in that way.

your feelings on the topic are pretty
much the same as yours. I have found a few soulmate in my life and they are all still standing by me today.
