Teenager
[out here in the fields]
Sits on the Tower of Trash
[i fight for my meals]
useless. You don't matter.
[i get back to my living]
Make a Name for yourself.
[i don't need to fight]
This Name is important.
[to prove i'm right]
Not all Names are.
[i don't need to be forgiven]
But this one is.
[don't cry]
Make a Name for yourself.
[don't raise your eye]
Don't let them tell you who you are.
[it's only Teenage Wasteland.]
Tell them who you are.
[take my hand]
Let's define our own selves
[travel south cross land]
Teens everywhere. We deal with things.
[put out the fire]
We are not useless.
[don't look past my shoulder]
We have lives. Lives have meaning.
[the exodus is here]
Pothead. Stoner. Slut. Whore.
[the happy ones are near]
We are not Useless.
[let's get together]
We'll get together
[before we get much older]
and Name ourselves.
[Teenage Wasteland]
Name ourselves "Power" "Purpose"
[it's only Teenage Wasteland]
Name ourselves "Hope" "Future"
[Teenage Wasteland...]
Not Named "Rebel" "Mistake"
[they're all wasted]
Not Named a Teenage Wasteland.
We are here. We have purpose.
What's yours?
Author notes
For those reading that love The Who, but not my poem, I'm sorry. I was feeling Baba O'Reilly, though. I love the lyrics, and decided to write...
I'd appreciate it if you read it without looking at the [lyrics], too. It makes sense.

FUCK!
Okay, Jan. This is my favorite poem EVER. Seriuosly.
This one REALLY hit home with me. I've never identified with any poem as much as this. For seriuos. This is damn intense.
I can't even say anything about it. This is so good.
Peace and love always
