The Robin Hood of animals
Like Tribal Chief of old
Defends his clan from hunger’s claw
Courageous heart of gold
Protector of the underdog
Provider for the poor
Who cares for sick and elderly
Compassion is his cure
Assures that people don’t become
A victim of their fate
Promoting with much energy
A self-reliant state
A model of self-dignity
He shares his gift of time
Possessions, energy and smile
With selflessness sublime
His flow of generosity
Does know no lack or greed
This “little bandit”, as he’s called
A treasure is, indeed

I saw your list of Animal Spirit Guides and had to take a peek.

Animals bring so many clues and important messages when they come into our lives.
I have raccoons living across the street from me in the street drain to remind me of their message which you've so beautifully written here.
It's a particular joy to watch when the family ventures out together, climbing out one by one. It's a gift to be able to observe them. The babies are especially adorable.

Marion,
Your words have done this little wonder known as the 'Bandit' very proud. You have not only shown her compassion and love but her true nature through and through. Most people veiw these creatures as an annoyance of sorts; always sifting through their trash adn making a mess. Honestly, like any creature even we humans have our faults but that doesn't define us as who and what we are. A splendid read this was my sweet sister
Thank you for entering and good luck!
Blessings
Bel

Ohhhhhhh....this is so cute!! Love the imagery, the rhyme, the rhythm and flow of this poem. Love the background too. This one just rolls off the tongue creating so much delight in the soul. Wonderful assonance and alliteration here. Its lovely how you used alternating meter. I have still not been able to do my class on meter because of being tossed between Oman and India.
Love and Luck,
Charishma

thank you, dear chari, for your generous applause and kind comment ... don't worry about your class, probably you don't need it right now ... and when (and if) you need it, you will find the time and energy to do it ...

Reminds me of my pet raccoon i had, Rocky, when i was growing up...the amzing thing was the effect he had on people. They all thought he some rabid ferocious animal, and he proved them wrong by coming and sitting on your shoulder and nuzzling up to you! great physical qualities you have endeared to him...

Wonderful...
This is the first I have had a racoon around my place. We are not near any water.. But tonight I have one about. I then find this gem on your page. Beautifully written, as always.

you have seen a REAL raccoon tonight ?
I guess that's the most incredible synchronicity I have heard of recently ...
no raccoons here where I live ...
but I'm resonating with Raccoon-Spirit nevertheless ...
