..hearts are tender
and so easily worn.
Yet all the while...
there is magic everywhere
you only need look beyond
what you might consider
the "everyday"
or the average.
Please tell me what you think

Magic...
is indeed everywhere! let your heart guide you there,
Keep always your eyes on, the distant horizon,
Celestial wind in your hair,
Indeed life is fragile,
But rest for a while
For love is strong, and will always be there

A shining example where less is indeed more. Beautiful in its simplicity.

"Life at last sit and listen while the fun begins
Hearts are broken and the bad guys win"
--Paul Williams, Life At Last
Life is indeed fragile and hearts more fragile still. Either of these, while easily crushed, are ever so hard to mend. Yet, there are miracles every day and you don't have far to look to find them. A blanket, a piece of ground and you. Just lay on your back and look up. You can find joy in watching the clouds blow past or a breeze rustling a tree or even the stars overhead. Watch, relax, breathe...

Lives can be shattered with a simple negative; unkind words, gesture that are vindictive, rumors, and lies. There is great consequence in hurting another. We all need to consider the need to be loving and kind. I do believe that it is far more rewarding to touch lightly with the hand of generosity than to scorn with the foot that crushes. You words give the reader much to ponder. Very simply written from a wise spirit. Excellent!
Much Love & Many Blessings ♥

Hi, Apparition. You've done a lot with so few words, here. I like this very much. Its simplicity is easily sopped up.
Do you mean, "worn away", or, "worn like apparel", in the first stanza? Or did you chose that particular word to be ambiguous? I say this not as a criticism, but in an inquisitive sort of way. (I just want to know how your creative mind spins!) Both meanings work.
Thanks. Your average cabbage, ~Clay.

Clay, I appreciate your taking the time to read and comment. I actually did choose "worn" because of the ambiguity. Interesting that you picked up on that.. average cabbage? No way.
Thank you for reading.

Very good write
This was a very nice write. I especially enjoyed the part that goes "...hearts are tender and so easily worn". This such a true statement... I know of myself, everyone thinks I am this strong person on the out side because that's that's what I let show, but on the inside, I'm the opposite. I enjoyed the write, but when I finished, I felt there was something missing, like the poem had not been completed or something.
That could have just been me. Good write though.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on this poem. You are very astute, as you are correct that it is not finished. There are things I needed to say, started to say...then decided against it. I posted a much abridged version. Again thank you for taking the time to visit.

Hearts can become worn and fragile by seeing only things as they are, but if we do look and see the magic and forget the fact to us it may be average but to others a kind word, a smile or a touch may indeed be a treasure, then and only then can our hearts begin to sing.
Love, C

most of everything is average
an agregate of everything
so one must ask, is it special?
I think so. -
it is only when we start looking at the "average" as a miracle of its own , that we can see the sparkle and light in it. You indeed shared another "words to live by" with this

Your words are so very true. Life is not a rehearsal but a finite one act play. Good to see you back on the pages of AP.

It's so easy to get caught up in the daily grind that we forget to look around and appreciate the things that we DO have. If people applied one tenth the effort that spend worrying over nothing or trying to get things that aren't attainable, there would be a lot more success in the world. People tend to forget the "baby steps" needed to reach a goal and want everything "right now."
A wise sage once said, "He who wants nothing, has everything."
Good advice I follow often...
Hugs...Eddy

Oh yes ...
indeed, Poetess, indeed. My son Johann told me once: Mom, people are such vulnerable beings -- everyone is searching for happiness and love, and in the process so many are disillusioned. Perhaps we should not try so hard; perhaps we should see the wonderment of a glistening tear following the curve of a cheek ...
Love to you!
Myra
