Hiding myself from those who would now care,
I find safety in the crevices of my soul
{Love from you frightens me, causes me tears}
As I seek solitude, I seek your face,
confusions gnarled hand grips through my heart
{I feel the pain, I long to feel the love}
I've hidden myself well, I can't find myself.
Your words torment me as they sweetly speak
{Love is your offering, pain is my fear}
Sensing you in the distance, I run fast,
though I yearn to step toward the gift of you
{I no longer know how to walk, just crawl}
Is your love strong enough to stand with me?
Is your love strong enough to lift my head?
{Is your love strong enough to be patient?}
I fear if I attempt to stand with you,
your arms will drop and I will stumble
{I fear I will stumble and never stand}
I fear if I crawl into the distance,
you will take your love in your hands...
{Pull it away from me and run quickly}
The frightened woman I attempt to see,
she lay crying, thinking you have gone
{She lay hopeless, unprotected from self}
Is your love disappearing as I cry?
Is your love offered to another soul?
{Is your love what you vowed it would now be?}
Is there a path from my heart to your love?
Is there a path from my love to your soul?
{Is there a path where soul mates can combine?}
Is there a path...

Don't worry, I just said if they're long make them GOOD, and this one is good. I really liked it. I like how you put the last line in each stanza in brackets as if it was an afterthought. Thank you for your wonderful entry and good luck in my contest.

I can certainly sympathize with this internal conflict. I hope you find a solution you can live with soon.
Sincerely,
