Another traveling companion was
An authoress, and because
Of her love of words and how they
Flow, she was able to portray
Simple messages to the world
As easily from her pen, they unfurled.
Her demeanor was something not
Not to be missed. She brought
A sense of calmness and tranquility
For in her actions there was stability.
To her characters, she wanted to give wings
For each unique one has a song he sings.
Her face was soft and warm
But in her eyes, there lay a raging storm.
The best thing she would say
Was for others to listen. Convey
Your true feelings though merely
Writing, true intent couldn't be more clearly
Defined. The ordinary clothes she wore
Didn't deter admirers who only loved her more.
Her writings were always sweet
Though many a story was incomplete.
Distraction was her worst enemy when
Writing, for it kept her away from the pen.
She was cheerful and bright
And she truly did love to write.
Author notes
This poem was a class assignment for my college lit class. We had to mimic Chaucer's style from Canterbury Tales. We got to pick what profession we wanted to write about and Authoress (female author) was the first thing that poped into my head. We have to write the tale too, so I'll probably post that later too.
