My Jungle Bower

After several weeks of hiding in the castle tower
I think I’m finally ready to ornately decorate my bower.
The king has been so generous, to grant my every dream.
Spoiling isn’t in my nature, but I’ll make exception for this theme:

I’d really like a jungle scene painted on the walls
complete with many animals and birds, with their lovely calls.
A stereo built in the walls should bring about the sound
and don’t forget the plushest carpeting, to replicate the ground.

I’ll need ferns and other greenery in every niche and nook.
(They’ll need some outside care, as I can only grow things that get cooked)
A tree or two in huge clay pots will shade my reading chair,
with skylights high above my head, that can open for fresh air.

FAO Schwarz has a jungle animal collection.
I’d love to have every single one, if the king has no objection.
Stuffed Bengal and white tigers, lions, and a 4 foot elephant,
the giraffe is over 6 feet high, and would make a good accompaniment.

A sliding panel should reveal technology at its best.
A computer with large memory would be my first request.
(That memory is important, since mine seems to stray…)
And a plasma television, where CNN can be displayed.

The bathroom I will want to be an extension of this space;
A Jacuzzi tub for six, with three steps placed at its base.
A waterfall to fill the tub, surrounded with fake rock,
also a basket with soft towels, and bubble bath in stock.

The kitchenette I’d like to be a modern wonder,
with a stainless steel stove, and matching oven under.
Copper pots and pans, and good lighting from above
I’ll bake cookies for my guests, each one made with love.

In the bedroom, I foresee, my bed hanging from four chains.
The stereo can play the sound of thunder storms and heavy rains.
Mosquito netting, ceiling attached, floating down around
feather pillows and a quilt, under which I’ll sleep so sound.

It seems I’m asking quite a lot for my castle suite,
but I have one last request, to make it all complete:
A secret passageway leading from outside the castle to my room.
( But nothing dark, spiderwebby, and full of gloom. )

Why, you ask, would I need such a thing?
Perhaps a secret visit, from my favorite king?
It’s nothing quite so tawdry, I can promise this,
for he and Edna are happy, in their wedded bliss.
But somewhere out there in the land, I hope
rides my handsome prince…

Author notes

Writing has been a real challenge for me lately,
so my meter is all over, but I did what I was able...
I can't believe King Hugh would be so cruel
as to threaten sending me to the yucky stable.
Therefore my requests are a bit more complicated
due to the mental stress said King created. (grin)

Oh, and so you don't have to "hunt" for my animals LOL...

    Your soul mate

    Yes there is a prince for you,
    Just waiting to capture the day,
    When he can come to your bower,
    And whisk you away.

    Or perhaps he would slumber,
    In such wonderful surroundings,
    And fall into a deep sleep,
    To the jungle beat and poundings.

    Luxuriously slipping into your bath,
    Of bubbles being fed cookies of love,
    Juices of goodness from your kithen,
    And thinking they're from heaven above.

    Oh certainly there is a prince waiting,
    He is on his way right now,
    Perhaps reading your poem of verse,
    And knocking on the door of your bower.

    Love and Hugs,
    Petratani

    Dear Trista,

    Apologies that King Hugh's comment comes so very late.
    He's been over on the West Coast for a brief masonic date.
    But while away, he thought of you and did a few good turns,
    collecting for your jungle bower some pungas and tree-ferns.

    All your requests are reasonable and will all be granted.
    Your bower will be sufficiently giraffed and elephanted.
    But are you sure you want to have your animals all stuffed?
    Live ones are so much nicer if you feed them well enough.

    You need not be concerned about the piles of fresh manure
    'coz Yemasse and Ima Cu will clean them up for sure
    and your jacuzzi bath with waterfall will raise a smile
    when it has an alligator (or, perhaps, a crocodile?)

    What a great idea it is for you to have that secret passage
    so the King can sneak in late at night for tete a tete or massage.
    And please don't feel inferior because of lapse in meter.
    Your instructions are detailed and clear so hardly could be neater.

    There never was the slightes need to feel unduly stressed
    for all that is required is for each one to do their best.
    ~~~
    Thankyou for your imaginative entry and best of luck in the contest.
    Love and hugs, XXX Hugh R.
      Dear Hugh,
      I really love the thought of animals alive,
      as I’m thinking all that fresh manure
      would make the castle gardens thrive,
      so go ahead and bring ‘em, iffin you are sure...
      But Yemasse and Ima Cu
      can not be slow and tarry
      when it comes to picking up the poo
      or won’t be long til I am buried!
      Love and s
      Rick, darling...
      I know that you are generous, with a heart of gold,
      and with an offer like you’ve given, I am almost sold!
      But with your house upon a hill, and so near the lake,
      I’m thinking that I’d rather have animals not fake.
      If this is not too much to ask, please let me know,
      and I will rush to you, through rain, sleet, or snow.
      I think that I should also mention one last, small detail
      before we finalize the deal and make the closing sale.
      A unicorn, I must confess, is VERY much required!
      I’ll be there just as soon as you have everything acquired.
      Love always,
      THE BRAT
      Margaret,
      Hugh has suggested real animals instead of stuffed ones (although I'm not so sure about the alligator lol) which would make for great fertilizer in the garden. If you don't mind stepping around a few piles of poo every now and again, please stop in for a visit!
      Lil lankan,
      I must confess, it was only under extreme duress that I was able to write my poem. Having been threatened to sleep in the castle stables really did not sound nice. But honestly, I've imagined such a room before, and even have an oversized stuffed tiger that I got for Christmas a couple of years back. I figured he could use some company.
      I'm glad you enjoyed the poem!
    My Trista, you'll need a zoo to put all the animals in, maybe one of the ballrooms they don't use can be converted into a jungle for you to keep all of them. they'll be no problem coz they're stuffed!
    WOW! I'll definitely have your bower on my must see list, it sounds fabulous. Great entry.
      Stop in to visit any time. The animals are all quite harmless, quiet and well behaved, don't eat and don't make a mess. Although a ballroom sounds much bigger than I had imagined, perhaps then I could get two of everything...??? Oh, wait...that's Noah's Ark. Never mind.
