I Will Hold a Party

You ask what I would do if I only had 24 hours to live?
My answer might just shock you, but it is well thought out.
I have planned this in my mind a thousand times over.
Have even attempted to carry it out a time or two,
Well, actually a few dozen times to be exact.
I have written letters to those whom I deem care about me,
Those who over the years have consistently showed it.
I then attempted to locate those folks and if I successfully
was able to locate them all I would of carried out my plan,
unfortunately, there was always at least one person whom
I could not locate, thus the plan was put on hold.

The plan:  I would hold a party, invite all those I wrote a letter to
I would call them all and tell them it was imperative they come
I would tell them there was to be an important announcement
One that they would not want to hear second hand.
I would make sure they heard the urgency in my voice.
I would them make sure it was the best party they had ever attended
I would ensure that there was something at the party that was a favorite
Of each of the person who attended.

They would all be sure to enjoy themselves
They would walk away knowing I went out of my way

to make sure they had a good time.
As each guest left I would give them a letter addressed to them,

 give them a hug
And tell them how very much I loved them.

I would instruct them to open the letter tomorrow
Now I know they are going to open the letter

the second they get in the car,
but that is okay because inside the letter will be a note

telling them another letter will follow
They will receive my burial notice in the mail

approximately three days later along with a note
explaining that the party they attended

was actually my live funeral and I appreciate
Their proper send off and attendance,

it made my farewell so much easier.

It will also Contain a small note explaining

that they should look  in the trunks of their cars.
Because one of the rules of my parties has always been

that they hand over their keys when they walk through the door,

if they are able to drive when they leave they get them back
If not they will get a designated driver to take them home.

On that night handing over their keys
meant that what was willed to them was placed

within their trunks prior to my death when they
Attended my funeral ... they actually took home

their inheritance with them.
It should be a nice surprise for all.

Now I can rest in peace.
