Recalling what he read,
it is easy to see
that nothing was coming.
Page after page of loss,
with only one moment
filled with pure truth and love.
The tragic ending calls,
begging to be achieved
before the final sheet.
The lines read with contempt,
clenching to the horror
of within kept secrets.
It had become too much,
the boy set the book down
and never read again.
Please tell me what you think

haha this is an interesting write...
the way you've basically summarised what ending a book is like (well for me anyway)...really well done my friend
"The tragic ending calls,
begging to be achieved"
really nice

Wow - I really liked this. I love the way you totally told how reading a book can make you feel. You have a very descriptive way of writing. I really felt this part:
"The lines read with contempt,
clenching to the horror
of within kept secrets."
Great work!!

This reminded me a bit of the book Neverending Story by Michael Ende. Many have read it, if you haven't you might want to.. its like you've summarized it here, past its obvious fantasy-related genre.
Good luck in your future works!

Knowing how the book ends is such a let down because then you can not read on which happens to me quite often. Bravo! BHolzner

Wow, the ending is powerful! I like books, obviously! So that was why I clicked on the title.
One small thing "to" should be "too."
Good luck in the contest! -
Oh I can so relate to this one having just finished a book very heart wrenching and no would not recommemd it.....but the impression or emotions I felt were of a 'b'grade moive that I never want to revisit. An interesting write . I like how you allowed the reader to put in their own thoughts but the key to this poem for me is the 3rd last line ties all the threads together and a tapestry is forme. Thank you for the pleasure of the read.

Well written and very poignant. Good job ont his. My favorite line was "Page after page of loss, with only one moment filled with pure truth and love". An overwhelming book of tragedy. Sometime, truly hard to read.

Very interesting and unique. I loved the abruptness of the ending "the boy set the book down
and never read again." The story had been too tragic.
Keep up the great writing. =) -
That was very good. And to contradict a previous comment - it felt complete to me.
I feel this is an individual interpretation poem, what I mean is each individual reader will recieve their own interpretation, though I'm sure there is a fixed base meaning for you, the poet.
I enjoyed this very much!

this is nicely written, a good write about reading a book.. the feel is good, and the flow is well done...
one line seemed a bit awkward... "of within kept secrets.", it may sound better as 'of within secrets kept'... that's just my opinion. good imagary, and story line...
good job! -
Very interesting..I don't know if I fully understand the whys But I still enjoyed the read...Take care..And thanks for sharing ......
